Christmas songs I don’t ever need to hear again

Posted in Christmas on November 22nd, 2005 by Chris

(and it’s not even December yet)

1. LAST CHRISTMAS by George Michael

Okay, the first reason not to like this song is simply that it’s George Michael.   But secondly…

Last Christmas
I gav you my heart

I have to stop right there…you “gav” her your heart? Well maybe that was your mistake, because what the heck is “gav”?  No explanation–Rock Star Diction, being British, nothing–can explain pronouncing “gave” as “gav”.  Read more »

I don’t know what is up with my PayPal account…judging from all the emails I get about it, there is apparently a determined effort on the part of dozens of individual bad guys to get in there.  And no wonder!  I have under one cent in the account!  I used it once to buy some stuff in May 2004 which cost about $20 and haven’t used it since; no wonder I’m being targeted.

But PayPal certainly is vigilant.  Every day I get…what, about sixty? seventy? emails from them? warning me about all this suspicious activity that’s seems to be pretty much continuously going on.  Read more »

Proof of Jeopardy

Posted in TV on November 15th, 2005 by Chris

Some of you have told me that you watched every minute of Jeopardy on November 7, 8, and 9, and didn’t see me or the girlfriend, and weren’t we just lying for attention.

Well that hurts.  So you need proof.  Okay, well, here’s the proof.  Click each picture to see it full-size.   See if you can spot us.

NIGHT 1
Okay, from the left, that’s me and the girlfriend, then Beth and Sean, just over the big “11 abc” logo at the bottom right.

NIGHT 1  (cont’d.)
Can you find me?  I’m the face just above the word Jeopardy on the bottom left.

NIGHT 2
Same seats, just above the “11 abc”, but tonight they tried a little romantic mood lighting.

NIGHT 3
Same seats.  It still amazes me that no one noticed that the audience wore the exact same clothes three nights in a row.

So there you go.  Photographic proof.

What do you mean you can’t see us?  Okay, well I’ll spell it out for you.  In this picture everyone’s clearly marked.

Ow. Well why did you ask then?

What is the correct response when an overweight girl laughingly tells you that when she eats sweets it all goes to her hips, and then asks,

‘Can’t you tell?’

‘Can’t you tell’?  Does she really want me to answer that?  If so, what kind of answer? Because my honest answer would probably be something like this:

“I can tell all right, I heard you coming.”

LOUSY UNGRATEFUL CAT

Posted in Animals on November 11th, 2005 by Chris

My Siamese-ish cat Shmooky recently went blind.

Well that’s a long random thought in itself; long story short he’s…better.  Which means, I’m not sure whether he can see or not.  (Before I was very close to certain he couldn’t see.)  We have had to give him high blood pressure medicine every day since then…he is much improved.

But here is the discussion I have most days: Read more »

Circle of Sun

Posted in Trips and adventures on November 8th, 2005 by Chris

Is that what Cirque du Soleil means? Let me look.

Oh, no, it’s “circus of the sun”.  Okay whatever.  I took Spanish.

Anyway, I don’t know what the circus has to do with the sun, I missed that part, but anyway The Girlfriend and I went to see Circka duh Soley (that’s how they pronounce it) last Saturday.

Being a straight guy, I can’t really comment on whether this show was good or bad; you would have to ask a gay Frenchman I would think.  But I can tell you this:

$75 apiece?  Okay, even if I were a gay Frenchman I think that would be kinda on the steepish side.  And $30 more for popcorn and ice cream and a drink.  Okay, I’m exaggerating, but not by much; I couldn’t wait to leave and get back to the movie theater or the airport where prices are reasonable.
